When Sam Huck started Definition Detailing in 2017, he quickly found that generic business tools weren't built for the realities of detailing. Customers needed to tell you whether they had an outside tap, whether electricity was available on site, what the gate code was. Invoices had nowhere for a vehicle registration. Setting up automations took hours. Maintenance plans didn't exist. Deposits were a manual headache.

So he built the software himself.

What started as an internal system to run a growing detailing operation became something more — a platform genuinely built around how detailers work, not how software thinks they should.

The gap in the market

The most powerful business software is usually either eye-wateringly expensive or completely generic. Buff is neither. It's specialist software, built for one industry, priced for independent detailers and small teams.

The systems that do exist treat every trade business the same. They don't know what a maintenance plan is. They can't handle a horsebox booking. They don't understand that a detailer working from a unit needs different fields to one working mobile. Buff was built to fix all of that.

We are a small team with deep roots in the detailing industry. We are not a generic software house that decided to target detailers. We are detailers who built software.
